The Community Planning Committee is a committee of United Way of Southwest Alabama’s Board of Trustees and is staffed by the Department of Planning, Community Building and Agency Relations.

As mandated by the Bylaws the chair of the Community Planning Committee is appointed by the chair of the Board of Trustees and is composed of not more than twelve (12) and not less than eight (8) members who are appointed by the Chair of the Board of Trustees. At least four (4) of the members of the Community Planning Committee shall be members of the Board of Trustees.

Much of the work of the Community Planning Committee will be handled by subcommittees such as: consideration of new applications for admissions to the United Way; evaluation of the agency agreement and administration; governmental relations; research and periodic needs assessments; Project Blueprint; grant services; community planning; information and referral; training; and volunteer recruitment.

Members of the Community Planning Committee continue to serve the community by addressing ways to improve the lives of others.
