Mobile County CIC

The Community Investment Committee (CIC) is a standing committee of the United Way Board of Trustees. The Chair of the CIC is an elected United Way Board Member, and is a member of the United Way Executive Committee. There are also three other elected United Way Board Members who serve on the CIC. The CIC has four major program components:

1. Determine and recommend to the United Way Board the annual funding amount for Mobile County agencies which receive an allocation
2. Oversee the compliance of agencies with United Way’s Standards for membership
3. Review and recommend action on Agency Emergency Funding Requests
4. The CIC accomplishes these tasks through seven allocation teams

Allocation Teams
Each Team consists of Chair, Co-Chair, and 5 to 10 members.
Each Team evaluates 4-6 Mobile County Member Agencies.
Each team recommends annual funding amount for assigned agencies.

COMMUNITY INVESTMENT COMMITTEE
The CIC Chair, the additional three Board Members and the Chairs and Co-Chairs of the seven Allocation Teams, make up the Community Investment Committee. The CIC considers funding decisions made by individual Allocation Teams and finalizes recommendations for individual agency funding to be presented to the United Way Board of Trustees for final approval. The CIC also considers requests for emergency funding from an agency and makes recommendations to the United Way Board of Trustees for final approval. The CIC Reviews the Allocations Process and recommends changes needed to the United Way Board of Trustees for final approval. The Community Investment Committee is chaired by Allen Ladd.
