Community Planning

The Community Planning Committee is a committee of United Way of Southwest Alabama’s Board of Trustees.

Much of the work of the Community Planning Committee will be handled by subcommittees such as: consideration of new applications for admissions to the United Way; evaluation of the agency agreement and administration; governmental relations; research and periodic needs assessments; Project Blueprint; grant services; United Way 211; community planning; information and referral; training.

Members of the Community Planning Committee continue to serve the community by addressing ways to improve the lives of others.

The Community Planning Committee is chaired by Rick Russell.

Five Ways to Live United

1. Purchase school supplies for a local school to distribute to children who need them
2. Allow a high school student to shadow you at work and show them how apply things you learned in school
3. Tutor at an adult literacy or technology program
4. Purchase personal care items such as deodorant, toothbrushes and soap and drop them off at the local homeless shelter
5. Help senior citizens learn how to detect and prevent fraud
