Welcome from our 2011 Board of Trustee Chair
Because of your support and involvement, the future of United Way is bright. I feel honored to be elected and provided the opportunity to serve our region as the 2011 chair of the Board of Trustees of the United Way of Southwest Alabama.
Since 1926, United Way has played a vital role in improving the overall quality of life in our community. As a community, we are stronger for having a successful United Way. While that strength is most obvious in times of trial, it is also evident everyday when volunteers are eager to help our community partner agencies and serve during the annual campaign. We know what it takes to make lasting change in our communities. With your support, I know we can continue to make our community better.
As we work towards community and organizational improvement goals, I recognize how important it will be to continue to improve the quality of the United Way organization by building even stronger connections with volunteers and donors and reaching out to new segments of the community.
Giving does matter. Raising funds to meet the most important needs of our community is a core part of the United Way mission. Continued focus on giving and careful stewardship of the resources entrusted to us is fundamental to strengthening our community and improving lives.
We know that community problems require community solutions. United Way is uniquely positioned to convene, organize, and leverage resources to fund those solutions. The United Way is also positioned to advocate for positive change for individuals in need and for the agencies that meet those needs. Together, we can find even better solutions and more effective advocacy.
Thank You,
Joseph F. Busta, Jr., Ph.D.
