Labor and United Way a Partnership that Works

The national partnership of the AFL-CIO and the United Fund began in 1946. Since just after World War II, United Way has partnered with labor unions. Giving back is a union tradition and is done in varying ways; contributing time, skills or money. Union members help to make a huge difference in the community through, the United Way. Thousands of dollars are solicited each year by payroll deduction

The Southwest  Alabama Labor Council and the United Way of Southwest  Alabama share a partnership , which officially began in April of 1965, with the appointment of the first Labor Liaison.

Currently, Pat Rabbeitt serves as the AFL-CIO Community Services Liaison. Pat is available to help and she is just a phone call or e-mail away, you may reach her at 251-431-0101 or prabbeitt@uwswa.org. Pat is one of more than 200 Liaisons employed with United Ways around the country.
