United Way of Southwest Alabama’s Young Leaders Society Raises $37,000
9/19/2012

On Wednesday September 19, The Young Leader’s Society (YLS) of the United Way of Southwest Alabama held an event that raised over $37,000 to assist with this year’s United Way annual campaign.

“United Way does so much for people across our community,” stated Ken Brown, Vice-President, IberiaBank and Chairman of YLS.  “This event was a great start to reaching this year’s campaign goal and creating positive impact for the future.”

The Young Leaders Society seeks to build a stronger community and advance the common good by inspiring, promoting and engaging the spirit of philanthropy and volunteerism among the next generation of leaders. This group consists of community-oriented individuals, between the ages of 21 to 40 years old who give a gift of $250 or more annually to United Way.  They not only improve the quality of life in our area today, they are building the foundation for the philanthropic work of tomorrow.

“It’s great to see these young professionals coming together on a common goal,” stated Alan H. Turner II, President and CEO of the United Way of Southwest Alabama.  “The Young Leaders program provides them with a way to make an impact on our community today while acquiring the relationships and skills to lead it into the future.”
